Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response: Writing these similes and metaphors weren't hard per se only that it was just a little tough trying to think of them. Once I knew what I wanted it just kept on getting easier to write them. I wrote about many different things with the topics provided and was still able to keep the message I was trying to give concise and intentionally vague in a way that I didn't want to reveal much about myself. This assignment was honestly a kind of relief since I knew I didn't have to try as hard as I thought I was. Summary: Today, we created our own metaphors and similes in class that reflects kind of who we are. Reflection: Sometimes writing out your struggle and growth as any figurative language would relieve some of the stress that's been lingering.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you.

Prompt Response: I spent my time doing something new, I am now trying to learn to play the piano. Initially it was hard and still is now, but trying it more and more makes it easier just by a little bit though. I can at least play with both hands now and at least that had to be progress. Summary: Today, we read a poem by Maya Angelou and then wrote the many metaphors and similes found in the poem. Reflection: Sometimes with practice doing stuff that you admire has got to be one of the better feelings as if you try hard enough you can do anything.

Explain your preference, describe what made that type of text more engaging or accessible for you, and reflect on how understanding your preference might influence how you approach future readings.

Prompt Response: The Play was the most engaging text that we have read since we as a class had to participate in it and I feel like having that experience was better since we all participated and read together. The story for the play was very engaging too it lead a great plot and narrative and that for me was probably more of the better things that we have read. Hopefully we get to read more poems as it kept everyone engaged. Summary: Today some groups presented the chapters that they have read. Reflection: Doing this project was one of the weirder ones since we had to teach and ask the class what thoughts they might have.
