Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

Prompt response: I once had to speak in front of my whole class for my first presentation ever in the 5th grade. It was a weird experience, though I was still able to pull through. The presentation was about a biography of former president Lyndon B. Johnson, I was in the front of the classroom and started explaining away yet I had a weird pain in my throat like that if I couldn't speak and it was hard to even speak. So I just paused there and pretended to read my presentation and then I cleared my throat and started to present my project. although that worked I feared that my other presentations that I would have to do it would be the same, that same day I would talk to myself when I was alone and that would help me with my confidence. to this day when I present I still stutter over my words occasionally but then I remember my exercises and I just clear my voice and keep presenting.

What did we do in class? sorry, but I was absent.

Reflection: Although I was absent today, I did learn something. I learned about the silly routines I used to do just to speak in front of crowds. That is a major skill anyone in the world would have to learn. But now these are the times I can use to perfect that skill of talking in front of crowds more confidently.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.
